Live Rail
In November Simon got a call from Bognor Train Station regarding an injured pigeon on the tracks, when Simon attended they offered to turn off the Live Rail for a few minutes for Simon to rescue it, he said he felt a little concerned as he walked up the track just in case someone turned it on again by mistake.
Ewe and Lamb
When the phone rings at 7.30 am it is normally either of two things a deer rescue or a badger, but this time it was the Police reporting that a sheep had just given birth to a lamb on the footbridge over the A27 near Chichester.
They could not find out where they had come from and as children would be walking to school soon were concerned for the animal’s safety.
Simon and Doug attended and found the ewe with her lamb looking very lost indeed, Doug picked up the lamb and with the ewe following very concerned for her baby followed, while Simon and Doug desperately tried to find where they could have come from or where they could go.
Eventually as would happen, they encountered a retired sheep farmer on holiday with his family who offered to help in the situation and finding a field nearby from the vicinity of the footpath and the road, decided to put the animals into it only to find the gate padlocked.
Builders working nearby offered to cut the padlock and replace it with another one, so the ewe was left in peace to graze happily with her lamb at her side. WOW !! What a strange rescue!
